Summary, etc. Shipping container is a large, strong container usually made of steel used to store goods during shipment. Due to on-going import and export activity in the Philippines, there are numerous idle shipping containers that can be indispensable dwelling units for homeless families. The study aims to design a residential house having partitions and walls made of used shipping container. Through developmental method, the study produced a design of 54 square meter residential house using sliced shipping container as partitions and walls. The design specifications of the shipping container dwellings were in accordance to the National Building Code of the Philippines (NBCP), National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) and Revised National Plumbing Code of the Philippines (NPCP). The design produced through this study is a residential house containing two (2) used shipping containers utilized to be the partitions and walls of the house. The temperature inside the shipping container was used to determine the required insulation of the design. The cost estimate of the dwelling unit with used shipping container partitions and walls was found to be Php 965,267.41 while using concrete hollow blocks costs was Php 943,435.29. Results revealed that the most appropriate design of partitions and walls of the residential house is a 20 ft long standard size shipping container. The durability and strength of the residential house were established using shipping container as a material for partitions and walls. It was also found that the design has low maintenance than using conventional building materials. However, it is further recommended to study the electrical aspect of the design considering that the shipping container used in the present study is a high conductor of electricity material.
