Summary, etc. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a developmental plan for a box culvert at Lubgan, Bula, Camarines Sur, which involved using a wing wall in place of the old grouted riprap foundation to prevent scouring of the culvert abutment and better direct water to the culverts. The study addressed the following subjects: the existing condition of the box culvert, its characteristics in terms of profile, cross-section, and soil classification, and its design in terms of wing wall and riprap. The study also included a cost estimate of the design. To achieve these goals, the researchers determined the physical condition and engineering profile of the location using engineering methods and analytical tools, including descriptive research, documentary survey, and engineering survey methods. Based on the findings and data gathered, the following conclusions were formulated: a. The box culvert is a four-barrel type and is structurally stable, properly leveled, and has no non-structural defects. b. The existing approach is not suitable for the velocity of water in the box culvert, and the box culvert can hold the water discharge on typical days. c. The profile of the creek varies in values in terms of cross-section, width, and depth, with an alarming physical condition that can cause inconvenience in accessibility of the box culvert. d. The smallest area of the creek is 20.41 m2 at station 0+55, and the largest is 41.45 m2 at station 0+000, which implies that the area of the creek is uneven due to the continuous erosion of the soil. e. The designed riprap structure's foundation on SP (poorly-graded sand) soil is to be below 1 meter from the riverbed, based on DPWH guidelines. f. The wing wall was designed to be 3.6 meters tall and 5.5 meters in length, based on the standard details of wing wall for a four-barrelled box culvert structure of DPWH. g. The detailed cost estimates were performed to make the proposed project more accurate and feasible economically.<br/>The study provides a comprehensive analysis of the existing condition, characteristics, and design f a box culvert at Lubgan, Bula, Camarines Sur, and proposes a developmental plan to improve its effectiveness. The study's findings and design recommendations will be valuable for engineers, governments, and other stakeholders involved in infrastructure project development and implementation. The limitations of the study include the small sample size and potential selection bias, and future research could explore other factors that may affect the effectiveness of the proposed developmental plan.
