The study aimed to know the effects of study habits on the academic performance of BSOA students at CSPC Buhi Campus. This study sought to answer the following queries: 1) What is the profile of the respondents in terms of (a) age, (b), gender and (c) year-level (d) general weighted average 2) What are the ways to define students' study habits in terms of intellectual aspects such as (a) memory, (b) exams, and (c) ability to read, practices such as (noting) and (b) learning motivation, division of time, and physical status and emotional state in terms of (a) physical status and (b) wellness. 3) What are the study habits of BSOA students in the CSPC Buhi Campus, 4) That there are recommendations that can be formulated based on the findings of the study. The study is focused on the study habits and academic performance of BSOA students at CSPC Buhi Campus. The data gathering tool used in the study is to conduct a survey with the use of survey questionnaires to gather information that is necessary in the research. The respondents of the study include ten percent (10 %) of the population. Twenty-three (23) students from 1st year level, twelve (12) students from the 2nd year level, five (5) students for the 3rd year level, and eight (8) students from the 4th year level of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Buhi Campus. To sum up, there are a total of forty-eight (48) respondents included in the study.<br/>The conclusion drawn from the study; (1.) As for the profile of the respondents, in terms of age, the highest number of respondents is 20 years old and the age that ranges with the lowest number of respondents are 25 and 28 years old. In terms of gender, the result shows that majority of the respondents are female. In terms of year level, the majority are from the first year and in terms of the general weighted average, the highest is 1.6-2.00. (2.) In the ways to define the students' study habits in terms of intellectual aspects, (a) memory got the highest indicator which is if a matter is to be learned by heart, students read and memorized it part by part with a verbal interpretation of often was most practiced by the students; (b) exams got the highest indicator which is before writing the answers to the questions in the examination, students read very carefully the entire question with a verbal interpretation of often was most practiced by the students. (c) ability to read, among the five indicators, students continue their reading despite the difficulties in understanding the meaning of some of the words. They got the highest with a verbal interpretation that often was most practiced by the students. In terms of practices, (a) noting got the highest indicator which is students always take notes when there is a discussion or even when studying with a verbal interpretation of often was most practiced by the students; (b) learning motivation, among the five indicators, enjoyment in learning is the highest with a verbal interpretation of always was most experienced by the students. In terms of division of time, students get distributed by the surroundings during the time of the study is the highest with a result of 4.54 with a verbal interpretation of always was most experienced by the students. In terms of physical status and emotional state, students. In terms of physical status and emotional state, (a) physical status got the highest indicator which is students are aware of the subjects' significance for their future career with a verbal interpretation of often means that students are much aware that physical status has a great contribution to their learning; (b) wellness got the highest indicator which is students thinks that they can still improve their study habits fairly with a verbal interpretation of always was most experienced by the students. In the matter of good study habits, the most practiced good study habits is before writing the answers to the questions in the examination, students read very carefully the entire question paper. As for the practiced bad study habit is students don't like reading a lot with a result of 2.74. (3.) In the overall result of the survey, the highest study habit of Bachelor of Science in Office Administration students at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges Buhi Campus is students highlight important details when studying with a result of 77.11%. The lowest study habit is students keep track all the important dates and deadlines with a result of 2.1%. (4.) In the overall result of the survey, the highest possible recommendation is students should practice a good time management with a result of 7.49. The least possible recommendation is students should avoid procrastination with a result of 4.18. |
