Bufete, Jericho T.,
Design and fabrication of ram pump system in San Juan, Iriga City / Jericho T. Bufete, [and 6 others]. - 97 leaves.
Undergraduate Thesis (BSME) - Mechanical Engineering.
Includes bibliographical references.
The study focuses on developing and fabricating a design of ram pump system at San Juan Iriga City which answers the following design of the ram pump system in terms of water chamber, piping system, corkscrew; Effectiveness of operation in terms of water wheel (blade design), corkscrew, ram pump (inlet and outlet piping design) and water chamber. The proposed ram pump system, which combines a water wheel, corkscrew, and ram pump, is feasible and effective, requiring meticulous optimization of each component to maximize power transfer from the water source. The developed ram pump system is an innovative solution to address the frequent loss of water access in rural areas. The theory of machine design, theory of hydraulics and theory of innovation were used in this study. It is a developmental method of research. The research procedure follows planning, designing, fabrication, initial testing, modification and final testing. The major components of the proposed ram pump system is included. The description of ram pump system includes water wheel, corkscrew (Archimedes screw), water chamber, bevel gear, reservoir and piping system. The effectiveness of corkscrew, the researchers considered observation, action taken and remarks. Recommendations: examine thoroughly the materials used in the machine to ensure they meet required quality standards; make sure that the design of the blade of the corkscrew is appropriate to the size of the Ram Pump; water reservoir should be included in the design of the Ram Pump so that water will be pressurized and the ram pump will work; and For its functionality, it is advisable that the location of the delivery pipe should be on a higher elevation. The expected output of the research is a ram pump system for a sustainable and efficient source of energy.
