Biolock : a web-based management system for access control and attendance logging in i.t. laboratory 2 / Joan G. Esquibel, Marianne O. Monrol, and Lerma V. Neverio - 236 leaves.
Undergraduate Theses (BSIT) - Information Technology.
Includes bibliographical references.
Many institutions or organizations require attendance logging to maintain records of room usage. Manual attendance tracking remains the standard practice in IT Laboratory 2 of the College of Computer Studies at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges. This tradi-tional approach presents several challenges. The study proposed BioLock, a web-based so-lution that uses dual authentication to track attendance automatically and accurately. Using Extreme Programming, the study developed the system and employed a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods to assess its functionality and effectiveness. The study utilized a random sampling method for the selection of respon-dents. The developed BioLock system underwent Functional, Performance, and Usability Testing, resulting in a functionality score of 0.51 (Somewhat Functional), performance score of 0.34 (Least Efficient), and Usability testing resulted in a usability score of 0.35 (Moderately Usable). The study concludes that while BioLock demonstrates potential for automated attendance tracking, significant improvements are needed in performance and usability. Future work is recommended to optimize system performance, enhance the user interface, and conduct further testing to ensure its effectiveness and broader applicability.
