The researchers developed a fused deposition modeling 3D printer that used all types of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles as its raw material. It incorporates the processes of granulating and extruding into one machine. The collected bottles are sorted into three sizes: 350 ml, 500 ml, and 1000 ml, which underwent disinfection, drying, and cutting before proceeding to the granulator. The 3D printer utilized an alternative filament out of granulated PET bottles. The application of stepper motors helped the printer bed move along the X. Y, and Z axes to move the extruder. It reduces production time, costs, and processes in transforming waste material into a reusable and functional material.
