Undergraduate Theses (BSEE) - Electrical Engineering.
Includes bibliographical references.
The current utility model describes a livestock feed vending machine that automatically dispenses and weighs animal feeds as desired by the consumer in an efficient and organized manner. This vending machine maximized the efficiency of the scotchyolk mechanism by building an angled compartment that used gravity as its downward force. The goal of this research was to design, build and test a Microcontroller Based Livestock Feeds Vending Machine using an Arduino Mega microcontroller to automate the process of dispensing and weighing livestock feeds. The descriptive and developmental research method is used in conducting this study. Microcontroller-based livestock feeds vending machine includes a compartment for livestock feed storage, a 4x4 keypad for recalibrating the loadcell for converting mechanical force to digital values and adjusting the price, a coin slot for accepting money, a 20x4 I2C LCD for user interaction, and a receiving compartment for the release. The materials used in the device were 20x4 I2C LCD universal coin acceptor, jumper wires, square tubes, angle bars, steel sheets, bread board, acrylic sheet, push button, and HX711 load cell. The device was effective in terms of the functionality in dispensing livestock feeds but not accurate terms of weighing because of the several aspects affecting the process of dispensing like the delay on the real time weight in the LCD, the splashes of feeds because of the compartment not having a not deep and wide enough space, recalibrating the loadcell, it is recommended to modify the design of the receiving compartment to make it more efficient and functional, also change the 20x4 I2C LCD to a 7 inch touchscreen LCD to be more interactive.
